GeoffScott's conversations

Aloneness is a matter of perspective, I guess. This is a picture of my boyhood home; a region more than just a house. I was just commenting to a friend today about how moving from the Thornton area to Pullman, WA made me feel isolated. I grew up on the farm that is about a half-mile north(behind) the location of this image. I'd ride my bike to visit a friend who lived down the road on the left. His mom was my Cub Scout den mother. The road on the right leads to Thornton where my family traded with local merchants and attended church. I attended funerals at the cemetary just to the right of the green sign in the picture. I mowed lawns for a couple of residents in town. I knew every family for several miles. When I moved to Pullman in 1977 one my first impressions was that my neighbors living within feet of one another didn't even know each other's names. Thornton is a collection of a few houses now. Our church is a run down storage shed. The store, cafe and filling stations are gone. But there was a time in the 60's...

Nice, but I have always heard the term "Big Eddy" applied to the portion of the river below the Fort George Wright cemetery.

I'll have to find this.

Very nice photo. Like, Greeting,Nenad

Thanks CRHoward! It's not like the scablands of Central WA however, totally different.

The more I look at this one the more I like!
